New House Alicetown, Lower Hutt 2019
Featuring simple gabled roof forms, this house is intended to complement the surrounding traditional style houses in an established neighbourhood. The ground floor is of exposed concrete with underfloor heating and insulated slab. Cladding is corrugated steel contrasted with dark weatherboards. The double height living room features a steel framed stair with open timber treads and glass balustrading. Passive solar design allows sun to penetrate deep into the interior during winter months, whilst roof eaves provide shade during summer.
